DSST: Green Valley Ranch
Denver School of Science and Technology (DSST) is dedicated to providing an outstanding liberal arts education, with a focus on science and technology, to a diverse student population. Our curriculum is designed to ensure 100% student proficiency on state standards in math, science and English and a 100% student acceptance and graduation rate from four-year colleges.
Mission
Through its network of schools, DSST Public Schools is dedicated to providing a diverse student body with an outstanding secondary liberal arts education with a science and technology focus. By creating powerful learning communities centered on core values and a shared commitment to academic excellence, we will increase the number of underrepresented students (girls, minorities and economically disadvantaged) who attain college science and liberal arts degrees. Our graduates will be responsible, engaged citizens who are prepared to be leaders of the future.History
The Denver School of Science Technology (now DSST: Stapleton) was founded in 2001 as a charter school authorized by Denver Public Schools. In 2004, DSST: Stapleton High School was the first school to open in what has now become DSST Public Schools. DSST: Stapleton High School opened with 130 9th graders in August 2004. DSST: Stapleton Middle School opened in June 2008 with the 6th grade. DSST opens its schools one grade at a time, adding a grade each year until the school is fully enrolled. In May of 2008, DSST: Stapleton High School graduated its first class of seniors. To date, 100% of DSST graduates have been accepted to four-year college. Fifty percent of DSST’s 2010 graduating class is first generation college-bound.In June of 2009, DSST Public Schools was formed to manage a network of charter schools in Denver modeled after the Denver School of Science and Technology. DSST Public Schools was granted charters to open 8 additional schools (4 middle schools and 4 high schools) on 4 campuses by the Denver Public School (DPS) board. DSST’s second middle school was opened with the 6th grade on the Green Valley Ranch campus in 2010. Moving forward, a new campus will open each fall, beginning in 2011, until all 5 DSST campuses are open.
